The sage awakes to light in the night of all creatures

That which the world calls day is the night of ignorance to the wise. The Bhagavad Gita says that, and it is right. This scripture means that when all creatures are living in the illusion of darkness, the sage sees things as they really are, and awakes to that vision, praising the perfection. Conversely, what the world calls "day" (or "bright" or "real") is an illusion...the "night of ignorance"...to the wise person who sees how pointless and worthless the shiny stuff of life that most people seek truly is. Peer deeply into the darkness, then, and you will see the light. Yet turn away from the brightness of what others call "day", for they mistake the bright for the good. Neale Donald Walsch

Helping family is the greatest joy

Let no family member go without, or be in real need, if you have what they lack. Share of your abundance. Even if you think you are not abundant, share what little you think you have. What else is the point of having something if you don't share it? To use it for yourself, and yourself alone? Would that be the point? I don't think so. In fact, that would miss the point of all of life. And while we are thinking of family...could we think of all people as members of our family? Now there's a thought that would change the world overnight... Neale Donald Walsch

Nobody needs your help

I know, I know...this is a difficult one. But it is true. Yet this does not mean no one wants your help, or that no one could use your help. It simply means the thought that another Aspect of Divinity is powerless without you is inaccurate. Do not do something, therefore, because you think someone else needs you. That only builds resentment. Do whatever you do as a means of deciding, declaring, creating, and experiencing who you are--and who you choose to be. Then you will never feel victimized, powerless, or without choice. Yes? You see how simple it all is? Get out of victimhood. Neale Donald Walsch

Giving up is not the answer

Neither is giving in. Stand your ground. There is a way of doing that without having to be combative. There is a way of hanging on to your true self, and demonstrating it, without resorting to aggression. But giving up and giving in is not the way. Simply and quietly claiming your right to be You is the way. You know exactly why you received this message today. Neale Donald Walsch

Art begs you to notice it

Why? Because art is God's way of saying hello. So pay attention to poetry. Pay attention to music. Pay attention to paintings and sculptures and photo exhibits and ballets and plays. Don't let all this go unnoticed. Your world is shouting out to you, revealing something intrinsically glorious about itself. Listen carefully. Love art, the way art loves Life. Neale Donald Walsch

God is talking to you every minute of every hour of every day

You are never alone, or without help or guidance, counsel or advice. You need but purely and earnestly ask a question and God will answer you, directly and immediately. The answer may come in an unexpected form, but it will come.Your only job then will be to not ignore it; to see it for what it is. For all you know these very words may be an answer to your question about whether God is even listening to you or offering you guidance. Neale Donald Walsch

You need to read more

No, really. You need to read more. There's a book right now waiting to be read by you. Do you think this book has come into your awareness by accident? It has been placed before you by your Consciousness. Go get it. Read it. Make margin notes. Do it now. Sometimes Life jumps out at you with its message, fairly screaming at you: get this. This is one of those times. I'm telling you, there's a book you've been scheduled to read right now. Don't ignore the schedule. It's Divine Intervention. Neale Donald Walsch

No cause is helpless if it is just

John W. Scoville said that, and he was right. Do not let a Just Cause go unassisted by you. Do what you can. Never think that what you can do is not enough. Every little bit helps. To do nothing is what hurts. You know exactly why you received this message today. So what are you waiting for? Jump in. Dig in. Pitch in. Do it now. No, no, really...now. Neale Donald Walsch

There's no abiding success without commitment

Anthony Robbins said that, and he was right. Commitment is the key to achievement. How committed are you to your future, to your goals, to your relationship, to your self? Do you want to be healthier, or do you just say you do? Do you want to be happier, or do you just say you do? Do you want to be nicer, or do you just say you do? Do you want to be more patient, or do you just say you do? Do you want to be lighter, or do you just say you do? What do you really want...and who are you kidding about that? Neale Donald Walsch

Words may help you understand something, but experience allows you to know

Never, ever trade your own experience for someone else's words about anything that is really important. Like God, for instance. Or love. Or what is true about another. This is a simple awareness, but it comes to you today at exactly the right time. If you think about why, you will know. Neale Donald Walsch

Love means never having to say you're sorry

Erich Segal said that and he was right. God loves you, and that is why you never have to say you're "sorry" to God. If you love someone, relieve them of the need to apologize to you for anything. The need for an apology is the signal of a person who is mistaken about him-or-herself. You cannot be damaged by another, you only imagine that you can. It is all in your head. It is all in your thought about it. Go back to love and give up your need to forgive others for anything. Neale Donald Walsch

All change is change for the better

There is no such thing as "change for the worse." Change is the process of Life Itself, and that process could be called by the name "evolution." And evolution moves in only one direction: forward, and toward improvement. Therefore, when change visits your life, you can be sure things are turning for the better. It may not look that way in the very moment change arrives, but if you will wait a while and have faith in the process, you will see that this is true. Neale Donald Walsch

The purpose of relationship may not be what you think

If you are excited about forming a relationship based on what it looks like you can get, rather than what you can give, you have started off on the wrong foot entirely, and you could be heading for a big disappointment. The purpose of all relationships is to create a sacred context within which you can express the fulness of who you are. And who you are is an experience you have before you enter relationship, not because you did. Neale Donald Walsch

Happiness never derives from power over others

Thomas Jefferson made that observation and he was right. Seek, therefore, power with, not power over. This includes people in the world, people in your home, and whoever else may be in your bed... The best way to experience power (or anything) is to give it away. Make someone else powerful and you become twice as powerful as you were before. Make someone else loved and you become twice as loved. Make someone else feel good and you feel twice as good. It doesn't get any better than this. And it's all so...simple. Neale Donald Walsch
